Sint Maarten

Lagoons and beaches and colorful buildings and colonial-style architecture add character to Sint Maarten. A Caribbean country within the the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Sint Maarten maintains an independent trademark system. Tourism and gaming are major components of the economy of Sint Maarten, which is a popular cruise destination. Sint Maarten is also the home of Maho Beach and Princess Julia Airport. Located mere feet apart, daredevil beach goers can watch as planes seem to land almost on top of them.

Trademark Rights

Trademarks and service marks are eligible for registration in Sint Maarten. The following rules and regulations apply:

  • Prior use: None required 

  • Classification: Nice Classification

  • Registration term: 10 years from the date of filing and renewable for 10 year periods 

  • Non-use vulnerability: 5 years
