Curaçao

Curaçao is a Dutch Caribbean island located off the coast of Venezuela. While it is a country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, it maintains an independent trademark system. Tourism is a major industry, with coral reefs and beaches as a main draw. International trade, shipping, oil refining, and financial services also comprise major components of the economy.

Trademark Rights

Trademarks and service marks are eligible for registration in Curaçao. The following rules and regulations apply:

  • Prior use: None required 

  • Classification: Nice Classification

  • Registration term: 10 years from the date of filing and renewable for 10 year periods 

  • Non-use vulnerability: 5 years
